Paul
E. Pontiff, was
born in Brooklyn, New York in 1930. He was admitted
to the New York State Bar in 1959, the U.S. Tax
Court in 1960 and the U.S. District Court for
the Northern District of New York in 1974. Mr.
Pontiff’s preparatory and legal education was
at St. John’s University and School of Law where
he received his B.B.S. in 1954 and J.D. in 1959.
Mr. Pontiff joined
the firm in 1962 and has been a principal since
1967.
Mr. Pontiff was
President of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern
New York for 2000-2001 and a member of its Board
of Directors for many years. He was a Member of
the Glens Falls Hospital Planned Giving Council
(1995-1996).
Mr. Pontiff is
a member of the Warren County (President, 1977-1978),
New York State (Member: Executive Committee, Trusts
and Estates Law Section, 1986-1989) and American
Bar Associations.
Mr. Pontiff was
President of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of
Commerce (1977-78), was the recipient of its J.
Walter Juckett Community Service award in 2004
and is currently active in many Community non-profit
organizations as President or Board Member, including the Adirondack Community College Foundation, and is president of the Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation.
Mr. Pontiff is
an active member of Glens Falls Rotary and was
president of that organization for the 1982-83
fiscal year.
Military Service
with the U.S. Army in Germany 1954-56.
Mr. Pontiff’s practice
areas are Corporate Tax Planning, Commercial Law,
Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Trust
Administration, Estate Planning for the Elderly
and Employee Benefits Law.
